17 Jan, Surkhet. Community schools in Surkhet, a district in the mid-western region, are to be connected with the information and communications technology. There are 116 community schools in the district. The District Education Office has started necessary works with a view to providing internet connectivity at the schools.
Internet in SchoolThe DEO’s move is in line with the enforcement of directives on the use of information and communication technology in the school education-2069 BS.
The Office has formed an implementing committee including the District Administration Office, Nepal Telecom and Education Training Centre. A school meeting the criteria set by the DEO will get a grant of Rs. 140,000 from the office to go with an e-service, said District Education Office Ram Prasad Upadhyay. The school shall purchase five computers and a printer and use multimedia if possible to draw the grant from the DEO.
The government has launched the internet programme in the school to make the students updated with the information technology. Although the programme has formally launched from this fiscal year, 22 schools here already adopted this modern technology. RSS
