New CA members sworn in
Ca first onlinekhabar (9)21 Jan, Kathmandu. The newly-elected members of the Constituent Assembly (CA) took oath of office and secrecy today at a special ceremony organised at the Constituent Assembly Building at Naya Baneshwar.
Senior-most member of the Assembly, Surya Bahadur Thapa administered the oath to the newly-elected CA members. The CA members had reached the CA Building premises since 9 in the morning.
Most male CA members were seen clad in daura, suruwal, coat and topi while many others were wearing the dress according to their community and culture. Likewise, many of the female CA members had donned sari, cholo and kurta suruwal and some others dresses according to their community and culture.
A majority of the CA members had taken oath in the Nepali language whereas some 35 CA members had done so in their ten or so respective mother tongues.
The administering of oath n started at 12.5 noon and it continued for about five minutes. At the outset, Secretary General of the CA Secretariat Manohar Prasad Bhattarai welcomed the CA members on behalf his office. He briefed the members about the oath-taking process.
Immediately after this, senior-most CA member Thapa administered the oath of office and secrecy to the CA members in the designated format.
Five hundred and sixty-six CA members including the senior-most CA member were present in the oath-taking ceremony today. Out of the total 601 members, 26 are still to be nominated. RSS
